Himlung Himal Expedition is a classic 7000m adventure in the northern Annapurna region of Nepal. Standing at 7,126 meters, Himlung is a perfect peak for climbers who have experience with 6000m mountains and want to take the next step toward higher altitudes. It’s also an ideal preparation for future 8000m expeditions.
Himlung is less crowded than other peaks, thanks to its remote location near the Tibet border, and it’s not technically very difficult. The climb involves ascending three high camps above base camp, crossing rock, moraine, and snow slopes. Most of the climb follows gentle slopes of around 30 degrees, with only the final section near the summit becoming steeper at about 40 degrees. The route from Base Camp to Camp II passes through rocks and moraine, while snow slopes dominate from Camp II to the summit.
Our expedition is fully guided, with one experienced climbing Sherpa assigned to each participant for support and safety.
The journey begins with a scenic trek through the Nar and Phu Valleys, an area rich in history, culture, and stunning landscapes. These valleys are remote and untouched, giving you a sense of adventure before even reaching Base Camp. Himlung Base Camp sits at 4,900m (16,080 ft), and from there, three higher camps are established:
- Camp I: 5,350m
- Camp II: 6,000m
- Camp III: 6,350m
Acclimatization is key, so climbers rotate between these higher camps before attempting the summit. Typically, climbers reach Camp III and then return to Base Camp to prepare for the final push. Once acclimatized, the summit push begins—a thrilling ascent to the top of Himlung Himal.
This expedition offers an unforgettable combination of adventure, culture, and breathtaking Himalayan scenery, making it a must for serious climbers seeking a less crowded, high-altitude experience.
